Heathcare Leaders
The issue of HIV/AIDS is ultimately an issue of health.
More than any other leaders, healthcare providers are in the best position to address the topic of HIV/AIDS with individuals and to provide information and guidance, as well as diagnosis and treatment. Because of this unique status, leaders in health care have a trust and responsibility to play an active role in reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS and curtail the epidemic by educating and guiding their patients and colleagues.
Leaders in the healthcare sector can:
- Post information to raise awareness and encourage routine HIV testing.
- Include NHAP messages in health communications.
- Distribute prevention information as part of their communication to patient populations.
- Convey NHAP messages to colleagues through peer-to-peer education and opportunities for collegial influence.
