Roderick D. Gillum

Since 1997, Roderick D. Gillum has been vice president of Corporate Responsibility and Diversity for the General Motors Corporation.  He oversees GM’s global corporate social responsibility initiatives, including community relations, philanthropy, business ethics, and diversity management within the company.  In addition, Mr. Gillum is chairman of the General Motors Foundation, as well as chairman of the board and president of Motor Enterprises Incorporated, a subsidiary of General Motors that specializes in providing capital for GM minority suppliers.

Prior to joining GM as an attorney in 1979, Mr. Gillum was an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board in Detroit.  His previous experience also included serving as administrative assistant to the late Senator Arthur Cartwright of Michigan.  He was elected by his peers to serve as a Fellow in the American Bar Association’s College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.  Mr. Gillum is the co-chair of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law on Opportunities for Minorities in the Profession and serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
