Dr. Edwin I. Hernández

Dr. Edwin I. Hernández is the foundations research director of DeVos Family Foundations.  Dr. Hernández is also a research fellow at the Center for the Study of Latino Religion at the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Hernández is involved in national initiatives to strengthen the theological education of Latino clergy in the U.S.  These initiatives include conducting research among clergy and seminarians, as well as convening a national conference for Latino denominational leaders.

As part of his work at the Center for the Study of Latino Religion, Dr. Hernández helped produce a research report titled “Faith-Based Responses to HIV/AIDS in the U.S. Latino Community: A Needs Assessment.”  In addition, as part of the “Chicago Latino Congregations Study,” a research project among Latino churches in the city, the Center is studying the role of churches in relation to HIV/AIDS.
