The Reverend Dr. Michael Louis Pfleger

The Reverend Dr. Michael Louis Pfleger has lived in and ministered to the African American community of Chicago, and is currently the pastor of Saint Sabina Church.  Pastor Pfleger is also the founder of the Employment Resource Center, the Saint Sabina Social Service Center, the Thea Bowman Spiritual Advance Center, the Samaritan House for the Homeless, and the Saint Sabina 80-unit Elders Village.

In the course of his extensive and active ministry, Pastor Pfleger has been recognized for his commitment to equality and his passionate stance against injustice.  His awards and honors include “Keeper of the Dream” from the Rainbow/Push Coalition; the Distinguished Service Award from the Nation of Islam; the “Thurgood Marshall Award” from the National Black Prosecutors Association; and the “Monsignor Egan Social Justice Award” from DePaul University.

As a minister, Pastor Pfleger has sought to break down the walls of racism and denominationalism by building unity among all people founded on truth and based on Jesus’ command for people to love one another.
