Martha Redbone

Martha Redbone (Lumbee/Shawnee/Choctaw) is a rising singer and songwriter, mentored by legendary musician Walter 'Junie' Morrison. Her music is described as earthy funk infused with a folksy guitar strum to which Redbone adds her original lyrics.

Martha's debut CD, Home of the Brave (a title referencing Native Americans) was described as "stunning" by Billboard Magazine. In her next album, Skintalk, she continued to explore social and political issues close to her heart and heritage as a Native American.

Martha was nominated for four 2002 Native American Music Awards and won the Debut Artist of the Year Award. She was featured in Native Peoples Magazine among "10 Rising Stars" for 2003. In 2004 Martha won her second Indian Summer Music Award for Best Album. She also shared the stage with notable music artists Carlos Santana and the Neville Brothers at the 2004 New Orleans Jazzfest.
