The Very Rev. Dr. William S. Stafford became dean of the School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee in January 2005.  The School of Theology at the University of the South comprises the residential seminary and the Programs Center.  The seminary has more than 160 graduate students pursuing master and doctoral degrees and certificates in theology.

Widely recognized as an educator and scholar, Dean Stafford has authored Domesticating the Clergy: The Inception of the Reformation in Strasbourg 1522-1524 and Disordered Loves: Healing the Seven Deadly Sins.  His articles and book reviews have appeared in numerous publications, including Church History, the Catholic Historical Review, and Anglican and Episcopal History.

Dean Stafford has many interests, including involvement in a hospice in Romania for children with AIDS.
