Floyd Red Crow Westerman, American Indian activist and country folk singer, made his big screen debut in the motion picture Renegades in 1989. Since that time, Red Crow’s list of film credits have included Dances with Wolves, Buffalo Girls, Grey Owl, Hidalgo, Dreamkeeper and others.
Red Crow has done extensive work on network television, including appearing on “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Judging Amy,” “Northern Exposure” and “The Pretender.” Well known on the country-folk singing circuit, Red Crow began his career in Colorado, and in 1969 he signed his first recording contract in New York. Since 1980 his concerts, in support of Human Rights for Indigenous People of the World, have taken him around the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Central and South America.
As a leader in the North American Indian Movement, Red Crow is actively involved in all aspects of human rights, including the recognition of treaty, land, and religious rights, as well as sovereignty and mascot issues.
